   manufactured at Nankin (Nanjing), in China.] [Written also

   1. A species of cloth, of a firm texture, originally brought
      from China, made of a species of cotton (Gossypium
      religiosum) that is naturally of a brownish yellow color
      quite indestructible and permanent.
