   regalar to regale, to caress, to melt, perhaps fr. L.
   regalare to thaw (cff. Gelatin), or cf. Sp. gala graceful,
   pleasing address, choicest part of a thing (cf. Gala), or
   most likely from OF. galer to rejoice, gale pleasure.]
