Icel. blotna to become soft, blautr soft, wet, Sw. bl["o]t soft, bl["o]ta to soak; akin to G. bloss bare, and AS. ble['a]t wretched; or perh. fr. root of Eng. 5th blow. Cf. Blote.] 1.
