Peristaltic \Per`i*stal"tic\, a. [Gr. ? clasping and compressing, fr. ? to surround, wrap up; ? round + ? to place, arrange: cf. F. p['e]ristaltique.] (Physiol.) Pertaining to a wormlike wave motion of the intestines, and by analogy, of other flexible tubular structures.
